Zero Data CollectionPrivacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
Website Cached View ("we", "our", or "the extension") is an open-web utility designed to help users view independent public archives, search mirrors, and basic domain registration information for web links.
We believe privacy is a fundamental right. This privacy policy describes in plain, unambiguous terms how our extension and companion web hub operate.
1. Zero Personal Data Collection
We do not collect, store, transmit, profile, or sell any personal data, including but not limited to:
- No personal identifying information (names, emails, IP addresses, credentials).
- No browsing history, bookmarks, or web search logs.
- No tracking cookies, analytics identifiers, or digital fingerprints.
- No background telemetry or network monitoring.
2. How URLs Are Handled (Client-Side Privacy)
When you right-click a link or page to open Website Cached View:
- The target URL is encoded directly inside your browser as a Base64 fragment (the part after
#u=...). - Under standard web protocol (RFC 3986), the fragment (#) is never sent to our hosting server or recorded in server access logs.
- The companion website runs purely as a static client on Cloudflare Pages. Decoding and query construction occur exclusively inside your local browser memory (RAM).
3. Permissions Used by the Chrome Extension
In accordance with the Chrome Web Store Minimum Permissions Policy, our extension requests only the minimum privileges required to perform its single purpose:
contextMenus: Used exclusively to add the "Find archive history with Website Cached View" item to your right-click menu on web pages and hyperlinks.activeTab: Used solely when you click the extension action button in the toolbar to automatically detect the current tab's public URL for quick lookup. It does not monitor other tabs or background navigation.storage: Used solely for session storage to pass temporary lookup state between the popup and tab without persistent storage or external transmission.
4. Third-Party Services & Open APIs
When you use the tool, your browser directly makes public, read-only requests to established third-party services to display factual data:
- The Internet Archive (Wayback Machine): To query snapshot timestamps and availability.
- WordPress mShots (Automattic): To display an on-demand visual screenshot preview of the target page.
- Google S2 Favicon Service: To load the public favicon of the inspected domain.
- Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH): To resolve public IP addresses via secure DNS.
- Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP): To query open, public domain expiration and registrar records.
These requests are initiated directly from your browser to the respective service providers. Please consult the individual privacy policies of those public services for their operational practices.
5. Commercial Use & Advertisements
The companion web page may feature non-intrusive, clearly labeled sponsor or advertising spaces at the bottom of the page. These spaces do not read your inspected URLs, do not track browsing history, and do not obstruct the primary utility.
6. Contact & Open Source Inquiries
If you have any questions or feedback regarding this Privacy Policy, you may contact the maintainer through the Chrome Web Store developer contact form or via email at: support@clippingpathvietnam.com.
